What Handyman Insurance Covers
The policy at the center is general liability. It responds when your work injures someone or damages property that is not yours, such as a scratched hardwood floor, a leaking fitting that ruins a downstairs ceiling, or a client who trips over your tool bag, and it pays the legal defense as well as the claim, up to the limit you choose.
Around it: business equipment protection for tools that leave the house with you, and professional liability if you also give paid advice or draw up plans. Neither covers your own injuries or a helper's; that is health insurance and workers' comp respectively.
